I love this. India used to be like this, too (though I can't complain about the abundance of ready-made when I'm never there long enough anymore to visit a tailor!)

I love that I can have the best of both worlds here. I still send a lot of clothes to the tailor to have it fitted which is why I don't trip over my pant legs hahaha

Bwahahahaha of course not! I could write a whole other post about foreign brands passing off for Peruvian or positioning themselves as benevolent saviors of either indigenous communities or the environment. I also could write a whole other post of upper-class, mainly super white Peruvians from Lima exploiting the traditional designs and work of indigenous communities too but I wanted to keep this one light and breezy. But I might revisit the topic in future newsletters
