A few weeks ago, my piece on the rise of American suburban chains in Latin American finally went live on Saveur. The article is part of a very entertaining and insightful package on food in the 90s and I strongly encourage you to read all of it. Preferably while listening to Ace of Base and sipping a cosmopolitan. It was my favorite thing I wrote all year, in one of my dream outlets, and I still can’t believe I pulled it off by sending an enthusiastic-yet-rushed pitch while on vacation in Mexico. However, I think this is a good lesson for me and for you—we don’t have to belabor every single pitch. A strong idea is sometimes enough to carry us through to the next round.
